Duke University Libraries, British Romantic Literature

Works from and about the British Romantic era of the late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries, from the holdings of the Duke University David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library. The collection is espec ially rich in the works of Lord Byron and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, including some unique copies, but also includes significant editions of works by Leigh Hunt, John Keats, Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley, Robert Southey, William Wordsworth, and others. Many items in the collection are from the Ashley Library of Thomas James Wise.

This is evidently an imitation of a similar edition by Chamberlaine published first in 1792 and in inferior form in 1812. The plates are stipple engravings, printed in colors, and are by various engravers, only two being by F. Bartolozzi. Of the original edition all but four were by Bartolozzi
